At the Heart of History
Café Burkardt sits in the inner courtyard of the Friedrich-Ebert-Haus – right in Heidelberg's old town. Friedrich Ebert was born in this building: Germany's first democratically elected President.
That was on 4 February 1871, in a small apartment right here. Today, over 60,000 people visit the memorial in the same building every year.
